Located in the heart of Portland - Victoria's first permanent settlement - Mac's Hotel Bentinck offers the unique experience of modern standards married to the Victorian splendour of one of the most significant Hotel buildings from our past.
From the moment you walk through the door you will realize that a stay at Mac's Hotel Bentinck is no ordinary Hotel experience.
For a start the Mac's Hotel is no ordinary Hotel building. Constructed in 1855 (just 20 years after Victoris was first settled) the Hotel was one of the colony's most imposing buildings.
Fully restored in 1996, the Hotel has been managed since 1980 by the present owners, Portland's Hunt and McIntyre families.

We recognise that you can't relax if you're feeling penned in by the four walls. So we designed our rooms to be large, and then added 25% for good measure. Of course, working around vagaries of an old building meant that some rooms are bigger again. To complete the work, we searched the world for someone to craft the furnishings we needed to finish the rooms in a style befitting the Hotel. Of course, because a good night's sleep is critical to your enjoyment, our beds are the very best available, and all very generously proportioned.
